The Regent’s Wharf Campus features 17,500 sq ft of outdoor gardens, balconies and terraces providing access to much-needed green space and canalside fresh air.
We have a parenting room and baby changing facilities available on site and have focused on wellbeing throughout the development of the Regent's Wharf site to facilitate WELL Gold certification.
In providing a communal roof terrace for the occupiers everybody has access to an organic space that inspires and motivates.
We've increased the soft landscaping on site by 1,300% to help the Environment alongside improving air quality and biodiversity in the area and provide an organic space that inspires and motivates.
We've made a commitment to the King's Cross economy to employ three local trade apprentices at all times during the development, alongside a contribution of £42,000 for further training and jobs locally. In addition to this, we have also committed to providing 7,500 sq ft of affordable workspace to act as incubator space to local start-up businesses. The campus will be a car-free development, providing almost 200 cycle spaces to its occupiers and guests. Regent's Wharf will also have a BREEAM ‘Excellent' rating awarded for its sustainability and environmental efforts.
As part of an agreement with the council and Canal and River Trust, we have donated over £9,000 to ensure the canal's green bio floats remain well maintained and upgraded. We're also committed to providing bird and bat nesting boxes to create a natural habitat for wildlife, as well as making overall improvements to encourage Black Restarts in the area.
The campus has entered into a number of partnerships with organisations making a difference in the local community and beyond.
From Cook for Good and their life-changing grocery access to Global Generation and their gardens of hope, these partnerships are ongoing – allowing our occupiers to make an immediate positive impact on the local community. It also helps them hit their own ESG targets in a meaningful way, just by virtue of being in the building.
Some of our community partners:
Cook For Good
A surplus food pantry offering low-cost weekly shopping top-ups for those in need. As well as discounted food baskets, they also run a social hub, soup cafe, and advice centre. Cook For Good soup is now stocked in our on-site cafe, while we’ve also donated office equipment and run first aid and mental health courses for the organisation.
Copenhagen Youth Club
Starting out 20 years ago as a grassroots organisation, Copenhagen Youth Club offers disadvantaged children a safe space to build towards a brighter future. We’re proud to be a partner, with occupiers donating to the organisation’s Copenhagen Street food bank.
Children’s Book Project
All tennants are encouraged to get involved with our community book club. On top of this, we’re proud to be a donation point for the Children’s Book Project, a charity committed to ensuring more children have the chance to lose themselves in a story.
Global Generation
Founded in 2004, Global Generation co-create gardens with local communities to showcase how disused urban spaces can become an oasis for people and plants to grow. We work with them across their sites, including the Floating Garden docked on the nearby Kings Cross canal. Much like their gardens, it's a partnership we hope will continue to flourish.
The Campus is designed with fully inclusive access in mind, whilst working on a mixed mode basis, meaning we utilise the canal setting for fresh air, including 17,500 sq ft of terraces and require less mechanical ventilation, which saves further energy.
Regent's Wharf campus buildings are fully electric and totally gas free, incorporating PVs and Air Source Heat Pumps, meaning we have over halved the C02 emissions associated with the development.
For the remaining operational electricity requirements we are procuring fully renewable energy meaning we will be a Net Zero Operational Carbon development!
The design of this campus has also reduced the operational vehicle movements by 50% compared to the existing, and BGO are contributing a £153,200 carbon offset payment to counteract the carbon produced during operation.
BGO has committed to providing fully renewable electricity for the development which forms part of a Welput portfolio that has been awarded the GRESB* Green Star rating.
